How does it work?

Lumecca uses IPL technology to treat pigmented and vascular lesions using a process called photothermolysis.   Using a handheld IPL wand, PAS can selectively target areas with dark spots and suerficial dialated capilaries.  Initially brown spots will darken and you’ll realize your full results within 7 to 10 days post treatment.

FAQs

Areas that can be treated with Lumecca?

We can basically use Lumecca to treat any area that is exposed to the sun such as:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Decolletage
  • Hands
  • Arms
  • Legs
Who is a good candidate for this treatment?

As with every treatment at Physician’s Ageless Solutions, a thorough medical history and skin exam is done prior to treatment to ensure you are a safe and appropriate candidate for treatment. In general, you should be in overall good health, without current illness or active disease. Best results are achieved when a client is not an active smoker, does not drink excessive alcohol, and follows a healthy lifestyle. Skin should be intact without active injury or disease. The Lumecca is appropriate for Fitzpatrick skin types, I-IV (the lighter skin tones), and is not suitable for Fitzpatrick skin types V-VI the (darkest skin tones).

What do I need to do before the procedure?

Avoid any type of tanning for 3-4 weeks prior to treatment, or use at least SPF 30 sunblock. Avoid treatments or agents on the skin for at least 7-10 days prior to treatment; this includes: dermabrasion, laser, waxes, scrubs, retinols or any treatment/agent that can compromise the skin barrier. Avoid anticoagulants and blood thinners for 7-10 days prior to treatment, if medically permitted.

Does this treatment hurt?

During your visit, a topical anesthetic will be applied to the face. After waiting approx. 15 min for anesthetic to take effect, the area will be cleaned and prepared for treatment. During treatment there will be a bright flash of light from the Lumecca that feels like a light elastic sensation. Redness and slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and typically subside within an hour. Over the next 24-48 hours you may see darkening of pigmented spots; in the week afterward the darkened lesions flake off, leading to a more even skin tone. After treating vascular lesions, you may see the lesion blanch and disappear, or a color change in the vessel that dissipates after a few days.

How long until I see results?

Sun damage and skin complexion results can be seen a few days after the first session. The skin will continue to look younger and more brilliant over time with the most visible results after 1-2 weeks. Having multiple photofacial sessions will improve the final results. For vascular lesions such as facial telangiectasias, results can be seen in up to 2 weeks.

Is there anything to consider post-procedure?

Most patients do not experience any side effects and any skin reaction usually resolves within a few hours. Patients may find their skin to be sensitive to direct sunlight immediately after treatment. It is recommended to avoid direct sunlight and tanning.
