Chemical Peels & Professional Skin Care

In addition to Botox® and other neuromodulators, PAS offers chemical peels and retails a professional skin care product line for at-home use to improve the quality of your skin.  The team at PAS can remove years of aging and sun damage from your face with a chemical peel.  A chemical peel, combined with the right at-home product routine, will further enhance the results you get from the other non-surgical solutions available in our office.

Chemical Peels at PAS

We provide a variety of peels to target a number of skin conditions safely and to a full spectrum of skin tones. Here’s a list of chemical peels currently offered at PAS:

Epionce Refresh

This peel is safe for all skin types and skin tones. It is geared toward increasing cell turnover, removing dullness, and kills acne as well as brightens skin. The Epionce Refresh Peel is an elegant combination of  Malic acid, Salicylic acid, and Willowbark Extract and onion bulb.

Skinceuticals Advanced Corrective Peel

This peel is one of our strongest. It is designed to correct color and texture deep in the skin. This peel can be treated on all skin types, but with caution. The ACP can be used on rough or dark body parts as well to lighten and help with improving skin quality.

Skinceuticals Smart TCA Peel

TCA helps with stubborn skin conditions such as active acne, scarring, discoloration, melasma, and rough textures. It is very suitable for higher fitzpatricks, meaning darker skin tones. It helps to improve the skin’s quality by coagulating the skin’s proteins and by desquamation which encourages cell turnover.

Jessner Peel

Jessner is a combination of 3 different acids to a make powerful peel that is safe for lighter skin types. It helps to reduce superficial fine lines and wrinkles, as well as helping to improve the surface texture. It is great in combination with other peels, such as the Kligman’s peel.

Kligman's Peel

Kligman’s peel is a great option for all skin types focusing on the hyperpigmentation in the skin. It is one of the most effective solutions for stubborn pigments such as pregnancy melasma (“the mask of pregnancy”), chloasma, scars, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or PIH. This also pairs very well with the Jessner peel as an added bonus.

After doing a thorough skin analysis and learning more about your goals Dr. Greco will help you determine which peel is right for you.

Epionce Skincare at PAS

Epionce® – A Professional Skin Care Product Line at PAS

Quality skincare is the foundation of skin health.  When skin is properly cleansed, exfoliated, hydrated and treated, you can slow the aging process and in some cases reverse damage.  While it’s tempting to grab some cleanser or other products at the store, some of the most popular skincare regimens on the market can actually be harmful for the skin.

Skincare products made for the masses that need to have a long shelf life often include harsh ingredients that can irritate sensitive skin, spark allergic reactions, and even accelerate the aging process of the face. There’s a better option.

Created by clinical dermatologist Dr. Carl Thornfeldt for his own patients, Epionce® skincare is an elegant and effective line of care that is based in science and integrates over 20 years of clinical research into its formulations. We love it because Epionce® formulas are botanically based!

Unique botanical extracts of Olive, Flax, Apple, Melon, Bamboo, Dates, and more have been specifically chosen due to their therapeutic and anti-inflammatory properties. These formulas are optimized to improve skin function by reducing inflammatory factors while improving barrier strength. Because of their delicate, unique ingredients, Epionce® can be used on the most sensitive skin types, as well as post-procedure skin, while still delivering powerful results.

Epionce® is sold exclusively through physicians and other licensed skin care professionals to ensure you receive a comprehensive and effective skin care program specific to your needs.  Let us create a regimen designed for your unique needs.

FAQs

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a skin care treatment where a topical solution is applied to the skin with the goal of gently removing the top layer of skin.  Doing this promotes the growth of smoother, tighter skin with improved tone.

Can a chemical peel help with hyperpigmentation?

Yes it can.  If you’re struggling with hyperpigmentation, schedule a consultation.  In addition to chemicals we have several treatments that can help.

How many chemical peels will I need before I see results?

Chemical peels are most effective when done as a series.  The team at PAS will help you determine how many you need to achieve the results you’re looking for.

These awful dark spots showed up during pregnancy! Can peels help?

Melasma is literally “the mask of pregnancy”. It is a dark, “mask-like” hyperpigmentation in the skin that arises especially during pregnancy, and occurs as a result of hormonal changes. Chloasma is the same thing in a non-pregnant woman. In reality the conditions are the same. In both situations, there is an increase in facial pigmentation, hormonally related, that is exacerbated by sun exposure. Although there is no cure for this condition, chemical peels and proper skin care can return your skin to normalcy and vibrancy.

My skin tone is darker, closer to a Fitzpatrick level 4 or 5. Are chemical peels safe for me?

The question is often asked: are chemical peels safe and effective for black skin? Absolutely. There are several chemical peel formulations safe for darker skin tones, and certain peels specifically designed for darker skin. At PAS, we develop a safe and effective treatment plan for you, across all skin tones.

What are the do’s and don’ts after a chemical peel?

You should avoid any exposure to harsh conditions, chemicals, or abrasives. Avoid the sun for a minimum of 7 days after a peel, even longer with a stronger peel. Never pick or pull at peeling skin. Do not let your skin dry out. Keep it moisturized with our advised skincare, without over moisturizing. Finally, be patient. It took your skin years to accumulate this damage, and likewise it will take time and commitment to repair the damage. Think of your skin as a firm peach, that we want to protect and be gentle with.
