Have you been feeling tired? Run down? Maybe even a little irritable and unfocused? These are common complaints we hear from our patients in their 30s, 40s and 50s. Initially, a lot of people attribute these issues to added stress, more to-do and aging in general. But, the truth is, when you’re experiencing symptoms like:
You may actually be suffering from a hormonal imbalance. The signs of a hormonal imbalance are often overlooked and in some cases, misdiagnosed. Dr. Rebecca Greco and Amy Haddad, NP at Physician’s Ageless Solutions in Arlington are certified providers of the BioTE method of hormone replacement, a cutting-edge treatment that can diagnose and treat hormonal imbalances in both men and women.
The BioTE method is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) in pellet form. In both men and women, certain hormone levels naturally decline as we age, creating an imbalance. When you are suffering from a hormonal imbalance you may notice any one of the symptoms mentioned above but there are also gender specific symptoms to keep in mind.
Women possess a delicate dance of hormones including testosterone, estradiol, and progesterone. Many things can trigger a disruption in this dance including poor diet, lack of exercise and stress levels. Over time hormone levels take a plunge, triggering the onset of menopause. Unhealthy habits can muddy the midlife picture by speeding the pace of hormonal decline and premature aging. In addition to common symptoms like fatigue, confusion, sleep dysfunction and weight gain, when a woman’s hormones are imbalanced, she may also experience:
Natural changes, such as in puberty, menopause and perimenopause
Toxins such as medications or abused drugs
Poor eating habits, diet high in sugar and processed foods
Stress, Depression, Anxiety
Conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
Testosterone is an extremely important hormone in the body for men. Today, nearly 4-5 million men in the United States experience the effects of low testosterone (Low T).
Testostosterone levels begin to decrease in the body at age 30, and in some cases even sooner. This can cause substantial changes in the body and significantly affect quality of life. Between 19-39% of older men suffer from Low T, and have increasingly sought treatment in recent years.
Men in their 20s can also have this problem.
Medications: Opioid pain medications and steroids
Concurrent Illness: Severe emotional or physical stress
As a Certified BioTe Provider we are excited to offer hormone replacement therapy to help you reclaim your health and well-being. We want you to feel alive and well again, so we’ve tried to make the process as easy as possible by using BioTE.
The process starts with a thorough consultation. During your consultation, our certified staff will learn about your symptoms and determine if you’re eligible for BHRT. If you’re a candidate, you’ll be sent for a comprehensive blood panel so we may formulate your pellet therapy for hormone optimization.
BioTE is delivered to patients in pellet form. The BioTE method is via pellet implant form because pellets offer the most consistent, and stable release of hormones into the body. This eliminates the rollercoaster-like effects that can come from injections, creams or pills. Pellet therapy is also more convenient for the patient, eliminating the precautions needed to reduce contact-transfer of creams, or the need to remember taking daily pills.
Amy Haddad, MSN, APRN, FNP-C is a certified nurse practitioner focusing on sexual health, wellness and aesthetics. She possesses years of experience in bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) using the BioTE method, with painless pellet insertion treatments. Having performed over 500 pellet procedures utilizing the BioTE method, Amy encompasses a wealth of knowledge in hormone optimization. She is passionate about the many protective benefits of hormone replacement therapy and understands how life changing it can be for most when used alone or in combination with other treatment modalities. Her goal is to restore youthfulness and create an improved quality of life through hormone optimization.
Physician’s Ageless Solutions does not accept health insurance of any type and assumes no responsibility in ensuring insurance coverage of any treatment or service rendered. SHould you wish to investigate your own insurance coverage, PAS may provide the medical records necessary upon request. Payment is due in full at time of service and includes cash, credit card, debit card or CareCredit. A valid photo ID must be present at the time of purchase.
One week before the insertion, if possible, stop all NSAIDs (aspirin, ibuprofen, Advil Aleve, naproxen, steroid use etc.). If you’re on a doctor-prescribed regime, you should contact your doctor before discontinuing use.
The pellets are not taken orally. They are implanted in your body. After your consultation and blood work, you’ll come back to PAS for your pellet insertion. During that visit, we will numb the area near your upper buttocks and make a small incision. The pellet is inserted into the incision and covered with a small bandage. The pellet will absorb into your body, the incision will heal and signs of the treatment will disappear on their own.

Each person’s needs will vary and we will determine how many you’ll need at your consultation but in general most people need to come 2 to 4 times per year. IN general, a female will want to return for treatment every 3-4 months, while men will want to return every 5-6 months. THe rate of your body’s absorption is unique to you, and depends on several factors, including your cardiac output.
Not at all! Take note of symptoms to discuss on your next visit. Remember to complete any necessary blood work before your next treatment.
Some patients feel results in as little as 1-2 weeks, while others need up to 6 months for their hormones to optimize. The great news is, the overwhelming feedback from patients is once their hormones do begin to optimize, the effects can be life-changing, and patients become very aware of when hormone levels are dropping, and in need of treatment. Often patients- or their loved ones!- can sense these changes over the course of just a few days! We all differ as individuals regarding our personal lifestyle, health status, exercise routine, comorbidities, and more. As such, each individual will experience improvement in their symptoms on their “own” timeline.
